About The Instructor

Central Florida Systema is a school dedicated to learning the Russian style of martial art called Systema. Our group is open to anyone regardless of rank or prior experience. All styles are welcome also. We will share information, practice techniques and work to integrate this exceptional art into our repertoire. 

The Central Florida Systema school is lead by Dr. David Orman. David has been training in a variety of martial arts for the past 20 years including karate, kendo, aikido, tai qi, and kempo. He hold black belts in karate and kumdo and a brown belt in aikido. David is the first and only certified Systema Instructor (in training) in the Greater Orlando area.

Our goals are clear and have been consistent from the beginning:

1. We want to train as much as we can, as perfectly as possible, to improve our skills in this art.

2. We want to create a school with a large enough student base to bring David and Rick Merrell to Orlando as often as possible. David and Rick are THE premiere Systema instructors in America and it is a pure gift to have such skilled individuals associated with our school.

Regular classes will be in Winter Garden on Mondays and Thursdays at the Winter Garden Rec Center. The address is:

In addition to regular group training, we will be offering the following:

#1. Monthly trips to W. Palm Beach to study with Systema Masters, David and Rick Merrell. These are typically on the second Wednesday of each month.

#2. Quarterly full day seminars in W. Palm Beach.

#3. My teacher, David Merrell has offered to come up to Orlando to present seminars. We will be offering general and specific topics such as knife fighting in the near future.

#4. Trips to Canada to study with Systema co-founder Vladimir Vasiliev. 

#5. DVD reviews - fun sessions to view various DVDs from my personal collection of Systema training from various masters of the art. Informal and a bunch of fun.

The sky is the limit here. Come join us for the beginning of something special.

What we are not:

- We do not offer belts, certifications or ranks as there are no belts or formal ranks in Systema. We are not a "black belt mill."

We are all on the same path, moving toward the same goal. Ego does not fit here.

What we ARE:

- We are a dedicated school, associated with Mr. David Merrell, the first American to achieve certification status as a Systema Instructor from the 2 Systema Masters -- Michail Ryabko and Vladimir Vasiliev.

- A group of individuals who have found a passion in the martial art of Systema who want to practice with like minded individuals.

- Directly associated with Vladimir Vasiliev, co-founder of Systema.

Classes are only $35 per month and are open to adults, 18 years and older.
